Who writes this, and why you should care.

I'm Dan Hartman. I run a portfolio of independent publications about AI tools, automation, and software for builders. AISalesReps is the one focused on tools that actually work in production — not vendor demos, not LinkedIn hype.

My day job involves shipping software, hiring contractors, paying for too many SaaS tools, and writing automations that run my operations. So I evaluate the same tools you're evaluating, with the same constraint you have: limited hours, limited budget, real consequences if I pick wrong.

How AISalesReps is different

Most “AI tool review” sites are SEO farms — they list 10 alternatives to whatever's trending, link to whichever vendor pays the highest affiliate rate, and never actually use the tools. You can usually tell because the reviews say nothing concrete: no specific feature, no real workflow, no reason it's better or worse than the competition.

Here, every review is written based on real usage — either by me or by an operator I've worked with. We tell you what the tool is actually good at, what it sucks at, what it costs, and whether we'd pay for it ourselves. Sometimes we recommend the free alternative. Sometimes we recommend nothing.

How we make money

Some of the tools we recommend have affiliate programs. When you sign up via our link, we get a small commission — usually 20–50% of your first month or year. It costs you nothing extra.

We disclose this on every review that contains affiliate links, and we do not let it influence the verdict. If a tool we have an affiliate relationship with is the wrong choice for your use case, we say so. The full editorial firewall is documented on the methodology page.

Reach me

The fastest way is replying to The Colophon (our weekly newsletter — every reply lands in my inbox), or emailing [email protected]. I read everything, I reply when I can.

If you spot a tool we should be reviewing, a factual error in a review, or a vendor doing something shady, tell me — that's how this stays honest.
